SOLD-OUT - Do you happen to know Mr Erkel?

Ferenc Erkel is associated with at least three things: the National Anthem of Hungary, László Hunyadi and the opera Bánk Bán. He was the first director and teacher of the Academy of Music, a friend of Liszt, and a great conductor and composer who staged the operas of Wagner and Verdi while also creating nine Hungarian-themed operas. Yet he was not simply a musical figure! As the founder of the National Chess Association, he was also one of the most outstanding Hungarian chess masters. There are many anecdotes to remind us of this, and we will introduce you to a few of them! The interactive lecture will include singing, listening to music, and quizzes. The lecture will be given by Dóra Tápai, choirmaster, secondary school teacher and music educator of the House of Music Hungary.

Our Hangadó Senior series is especially aimed at older participants, but of course we welcome anyone who is interested. The aim of the series is to act as a club and to playfully tell a chapter of music history in an hour-long interactive journey through time.
