Rock movie club - Eskimo Woman Feels Cold (1984)

This feature film, which has won several international awards, is based on the love triangle between Marietta Méhes, a diva in the underground of that era, Linda Bogusław, who plays a pianist, and Andor Lukáts, who plays a deaf zookeeper. One unique aspect of the film is that it features a number of underground bands and figures from the eighties: from the bar-music playing Committee, Jenő Menyhárt (Europa Publishers), Mihály Víg (Balaton), Trabant, which until then had existed only as a ’room band’, and whose dreamy, break-of-dawn house party songs were included on Hungaroton's soundtrack discs for the film.

Contemporary Hungarian film and (rock) music have been in contact practically since the late 1960s. Sometimes more intensively, sometimes more loosely, but they are essentially inseparable.  Before the screenings, Béla Szilárd Jávorszky will talk briefly about the genesis and pop-historical significance of these works, followed by a discussion with a guest film aesthetics expert on the relevant domestic and international trends.
