ADHD (IS)

The Icelandic band ADHD originally formed in 2007 for a blues festival, but having recognised like-minded artists in each other, they decided to stick with it. Their subtle, melancholic, rock, post-rock, jazz-influenced sound is impossible to pigeonhole, and now, they are bringing their original style and their latest album ADHD 7 to the House of Music Hungary.

ADHD, originally the acronym for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is also the name chosen by this four-piece Icelandic band that originally came together for a single festival appearance but decided to remain together. Their first album was an enormous success (voted Jazz Album of the Year in their home country) and their popularity has continued unabated, not just in Iceland, but increasingly around the world.

In addition to concerts, the band is constantly working on new albums, and so far each new album has been both a continuation and an extension of its predecessor, all of them with the band's name and the title of the track. Prior to the latest LP in 2019, all of them were live albums, always featuring a new show, but this latest album, ADHD 7, is different in that it was recorded in the studio, and the boundaries between jazz, rock, folk and electronic music are even less apparent than before. This may then reinforce in the listener's mind the thought that ADHD's music is genre-agnostic and that the band has no need for classification, categorisation or schematisation.

It is clear from their performances that the four musicians are kindred spirits, bound together by a desire to create and driven forward by the energy that comes from playing together. Their music is both traditional and contemporary, with both metaphysical and physical dimensions. The members of ADHD are, by their own definition, undisputed masters of "psychoacoustic deep mysticism" – with no esoteric overtones.

According to current regulations, from March 7, 2022, it is no longer obligatory to wear a mask when visiting the House of Music Hungary. Concerts, programs and exhibitions can be attended without a vaccination certificate or card.

Nevertheless we still encourage you to wear a mask during concerts. All current rules are subject to change based on the all-time rules and regulations of the government. We kindly ask you to check all current regulations for your event on our website before your visit in each case.
